A little more about Capo Vaticano
Capo Vaticano is a place in the Mediterranean Sea to be discovered; a true native paradise overlooking the Calabrian coast of Tyrrhenian Sea with crystal clear water, fauna and flora ready to be explored. A promontory overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, of the Apennines of Calabria, extends to the sea and separates the Gulf of Santa Eufemia by Gioia Tauro. Small sandy bays, often only reachable from the sea or through paths, fine white sands with living and intense colors of the sea, which change from green turquoise to deep blue. It is not surprising that this is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy. A legend says that in ancient times there was an oracle there for the sailors before separating with the sea, visiting him in a cave where he lived, located under a rock called, Mantineo which means “divine”. Before the tourist boom, Capo Vaticano was a small fishing village. What Are The Ten Places You Must See In Calabria?
Attractions in Capo Vaticano
Following the purity of its sea and the exciting landscapes offered by its coastline, it has always attracted more visitors. Capo Vaticano, even today, presents itself as an uncontaminated resort that has extraordinary beauty: in just seven kilometers of crystal clear waters that are tinted with all shades of colors ranging from turquoise to deep blue, there are panoramas of a beauty of indescribable charm. The sea that surrounds Capo Vaticano is the ideal place for a swim, where you can discover the depths inhabited by the population of numerous and varied fish, all thanks to a set of currents from the two gulfs: from Sant’Eufemia, to the north, and Gioia, to the south. Let us not forget the sunset on the nearby wind islands: it is difficult to describe it in words. You need to experience it in person! Calabria Itinerary: 12 Days In Paradise!
Immersed in the nature…
Most of Capo Vaticano’s beaches are protected by wild vegetation which makes the environment even more exciting. Some of the most famous beaches in Capo Vaticano are Tono, Santa Maria, Torre Ruffa, Fuoco, Formicoli, Riaci and Petri i Mulinu. On the promontory there is a lighthouse in the shape of a cylindrical tower from 1870, the so-called Capo Vaticano Lighthouse. In addition, from the lookout overlooking the Capo Vaticano promontory, you can admire the dozens of coves with their Caribbean transparency and, in days without fog, the Aeolian Islands are also visible from there.
You cannot forget the charm of the two Capo Vaticano views; they form the Mediterranean in its purest form. The first is the famous Belvedere del Faro. Here, taking the first entrance adjacent to the lighthouse (an old wooden structure) and going down a steep, narrow road, you arrive in alleys carved in the rock and squares overlooking the sea, where you can admire one of the most picturesque scenic stretches of the coast. Behind the Lighthouse, in front, the view can go from Etna to the Strait; from the coast of Reggio to Stromboli, you can delight in the beauty of the blue-green tones of the clear and deep sea of Capo Vaticano, the famous Mantineo rock and the unmistakable scent of Mediterranean vegetation.
